What is insomnia and what causes it?

Are you familiar with those nights when everything around you is quiet, all of your family members are already asleep, and you are the only one waiting to fall asleep? You have a busy day tomorrow, the clock is ticking, and you are already imagining those impending stressful and exhausting hours at the office.

Sometimes it can happen as a series of events and sometimes it happens once, but insomnia or restless sleep are problems that many women and men have. It is estimated that 95% of the population suffer from insomnia at some point in their lives.

Insomnia is actually a feeling or a complaint of having difficulty falling asleep or interrupted sleeping. There are many things that cause it, but in order for insomnia to be considered a medical problem, it must also affect your daily functioning besides just being a difficulty falling asleep.

Ways to cope with insomnia

There are several ways to treat insomnia or restless sleep, depending on how serious your condition is. For those who suffer from insomnia on a regular basis, it is recommended to consult a doctor. There are several treatments that can change this condition.

Those who experience insomnia more seldom, it is recommended, first and foremost, to implement a few rules for a healthy lifestyle, and the condition can improve drastically. For example, to make sure not to eat three hours before going to sleep, and having a light meal.

Consumption of caffeine, as is well known, triggers insomnia. Caffeine stays in your blood for 6-8 hours, it stimulates your nervous system and makes it hard to fall asleep. Avoiding it in the afternoon will definitely improve your condition.

Regular schedule and regular hours for waking up and going to sleep (training your biological clock) will also help.

Natural solutions for insomnia and restless sleep

As always, nature has a multitude of means to help eradicate this problem. For example, by using specific and unique nutritional supplements based on herbs such as passion fruit and melissa, which have been scientifically proven to help treat insomnia.
